Lions Assistance Dogs provides life‑changing, professionally trained Assistance Dogs to Australians in need, free of charge. With over 40 years of experience, their programs support people who are Deaf or hard of hearing, individuals living with medical conditions such as type 1 diabetes, and Australian Defence Force Veterans diagnosed with PTSD. Each dog is trained to deliver personalised support that enhances safety, independence, and quality of life.
Bundaberg and Bundaberg North Lions Clubs have joined to sponsor a Lions Hearing Dog for Deborah. When you buy a Lions Christmas cake or support Lions with our fundraising this is one of the many projects that make a difference. It is estimated that the cost of a Lions Hearing dog when fully trained is $37000. Lions Hearing Dogs is a registered charity and besides the Lions Clubs contributing they have many corporate sponsors. This means the cost of the Lions hearing dog can be subsidised. The Lions members will be helping for the next 12 weeks with training. Dudley the hearing dog is expected to provide over a decade of service. The Lions members are proud to make such a difference to Deborah’s life and thank the Bundaberg community for their continued support in making these projects possible. Dudley has since graduated and has progressed to a working Hearing dog. His performance and welfare will be monitored for his working life by Lions Hearing Dogs. See Dudley below.
