School Library Book Project

Small projects such as a library book donation take on new a dimension when you consider 48,000 Lions Clubs could be doing the same.

Lions Clubs around the world support many literacy and education programs.

Bundaberg Lions Club supports the good work of local authors. There are many inspiring aspects of these books. Bert, The Boy Who Had A Dream by local author Elaine Lyons is one of the books we are presenting today.  Elaine partnered with Bundaberg Lions to enable us to put this book into ten Bundaberg school libraries. This will allow 4,000 students to have an inspiring read. The other book is Hatch Saves The Reef by local author Judith Stutchbury. Hatch Saves The Reef helps give a basic understanding of problems we are facing with the Great Barrier Reef. Proceeds from this book support student Reef Guardian projects.

From Lions International President Dr. Patti Hill

Changing the World Change doesn’t happen all at once. It happens through many small choices. With every act of kindness, we change a life. With every Lions club and Leo club, we change a community. When we change our communities, we change the world.

Operation Teddy Bear

During the past 35 Years with the support of Lions clubs throughout Australia, Lions Crimewatch has distributed over 53,000 Lions Teddy Bears. With Lions clubs ongoing support of “Lions Operation Teddy Bear”, Lions continue to supply bears to Police and other institutions that deal with distressed children. Operation Teddy Bear first started in Victoria and has spread to all of Australia with an ever-increasing demand for bears. Bundaberg Lions Club considered this project worthy of support. Bundaberg Lions has purchased some Lions Teddy Bears which are to be distributed to Bundaberg Police Crime Prevention Unit.

Bundaberg Lions donation to Bundaberg Quilters

The Bundaberg Lions Club has a sound tradition of supporting the community in Bundaberg. There are many community groups whose volunteers provide items of comfort to those in need. The Bundaberg Quilters are doing a great job of this. One of the difficulties is obtaining the material for the worthwhile projects. The Bundaberg Lions Club decided to provide a Quilters Shack gift voucher which was also added to by The Quilters Shack to support Bundaberg Quilters. Bundaberg Lions Club President Gail McKewen presented the Bundaberg Quilters with the voucher at the Quilters Shack. The Quilters Shack has a surprising amount of stock so there what will be no limits on what the Bundaberg Quilters might achieve with future projects.
